Two New APEX Facilities Due to Open in 2011

Apex Park and Recreation District has two new facilities under construction and set to open later this year.

Apex Field House

The Apex Field House is a year-round facility for indoor soccer, lacrosse, and flag football is rising up next to the Harold D. Lutz Sports Complex. It will include classes, drop-in facilities and leagues.

The Apex Field House will house two year-round indoor turf arenas, with practice areas for each arena. Garrison Streets Sports Center activities will move to the new facility in late 2011.

You can see the new construction emerging from the area around Kipling and W. 58th Avenue.

Apex Simms Street Center

The gymnastics, dance, cheerleading and pottery programs currently housed at the Garrison Street Sports Center are moving to the Apex Simms Street Center at 11706 W. 82nd Ave., just west of Simms Street. Students and parents can look forward to many improvements.

The Apex Simms Street Center also includes an administrative area. Like many other APRD facilities, the building features improved lighting, energy efficiency and optimum use of space.

The Apex Simms Street Center is scheduled to open in the third week of October.
