Some leaks are easy to hear, but others are not. To check for hidden leaks, periodically turn
off all water-using appliances in the house.
Read your water meter, and then check it again after twenty minutes. If the meter reading has increased, you
probably have a leak. Check all shower heads, indoor
and outdoor faucets, and toilet tanks. Don’t
forget to check the hot water heater and behind the refrigerator and washing
machine too. Undetected leaks can
waste hundreds of gallons of water each month. Fixing leaks in your
home is an easy way to lower your water bill and help conserve water.
