What happens if/when there is a disaster in Arvada?
When a disaster occurs, the Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) meets with City staff to prioritize and develop strategies to handle the disaster incident. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is activated. The EOC becomes the center of communication and coordination of resources. The EMC coordinates all of the functions within the EOC.
The next time disaster strikes, you may not have much time to act. Prepare now for a sudden emergency. Learn how to protect yourself and cope with a disaster by planning ahead. Visit our Personal Readiness page to prepare yourself. The checklists will help you get started. Discuss the ideas with your family and prepare an emergency plan. Post the plan where everyone can see it -- on the refrigerator or bulletin board.
