Accident Alert - What Is It?

During an accident alert, police officers will not be dispatched to property damage traffic crashes where the cars are driveable. An accident alert may be called during severe weather conditions when the number of crashes exceeds the ability of police to respond, or when emergency calls for service exceed the ability of the police to respond. Crashes requiring police response during accident alert include: crashes with known injuries or fatalities, crashes involving alcohol or drugs, hit and run crashes where follow-up leads are available or crashes with disabled cars.
